The Bugkalot/Eg̓ongot language is part of the Southern Cordilleran subgroup and is spoken in less than 2,000 households in Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, and Nueva Ecija. It is a threatened language, and speakers are reported to prefer using regional linguae francae like Tagalog and Ilocano in most domains. There is however a movement among members of the community to document their own language through grassroots methods and capacity-building training from different institutions. This paper is one such output of the collaboration between the community and linguists. Using elicited data from a six-day fieldwork at Bambang and Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, five voices have been described in the language: ACTOR VOICE, PATIENT VOICE, LOCATIVE VOICE, BENEFACTIVE VOICE, and INSTRUMENTAL VOICE. To arrive at a general voice-aspect paradigm of the language, voice-encoding affixes are also analyzed based on the temporal aspect that they reflect: PERFECTIVE, IMPERFECTIVE, and CONTEMPLATIVE.
